WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

In January 2001, I started a five year project to Visit Every City in Washington State. Why? For no particular reason other than to satisfy my own curiosity. Now entering the 9th year, the project has surpassed the original scope to visit every city. How did I come up with this idea? Let me back up a bit.

On a weekend trip to the Washington Coast with my sister and our parents in 1986, we drove through several small town and communities; which got me thinking, "I wonder how many cities and towns there are in Washington State and has anyone ever been to them all?" Fourteen years later I decided that I would.

With help from my friends and family members, I managed to visit all 493 cities within the five year project deadline. During this five year period, I decided, since I was already driving every where, to also Ride Every Ferry Boat and Drive Over Every Mountain Pass. Once this was complete, I felt I couldn't stop now, so I added a Phase Two (Lighthouses, Hydroelectric Dams, USA/Canada Border Crossings, and Tribal Casinos) which was done in two years. Soon followed Phase Three (State Parks, State Heritage Markers, and County Fairs); which I am currently working on.

This blog will contain stories of my travels and experiences, writings about my favorite cities and places, Washington State trivia and facts, and whatever else falls out of my head and onto my keyboard. I welcome your thoughts. Enjoy!

Speaking Engagement

I am truly honored to be invited back for a third visit to speak to the Seattle Horseless Carriage Auto Club. I first spoke to the group back in June 2008, then again in March 2009, and this time the last Saturday of February 2010. The club's members, most of which show up for my presentation, are by far my favorite group to speak to. They always ask me such great questions and are truly engaging. I offer them a PowerPoint presentation with lots of photos, stats, and trivia questions and they offer me a nice breakfast.
